Wolverhampton Wanderers reportedly fail in their attempt to put together a permanent deal for Atletico Madrid defender Jonny.

Wolverhampton Wanderers have reportedly been told that they will be unable to sign Jonny on a permanent deal.

Atletico Madrid signed Jonny from Celta Vigo during the summer and immediately allowed the versatile full-back to spend the season in the Premier League with Wolves.

The 24-year-old has gone on to become a huge success at Molineux, with 21 starts being made in all competitions and a debut being earned on the international scene with Spain.

However, according to Mundo Deportivo, Atletico boss Diego Simeone intends to use Jonny in his squad next season and will not allow Wolves to buy the player.

Jonny has already established himself in La Liga, with 183 appearances being made in Spain's top flight between 2012 and 2018.
