Chelsea to fight Arsenal for Hatem Ben Arfa

Arsenal and Chelsea will do battle for the signature of Newcastle United winger Haten Ben Arfa.

Champions League winners Chelsea will battle with Arsenal to try to sign Newcastle United winger Hatem Ben Arfa.

The Frenchman has impressed since returning from injury and was an integral part of the Magpies fifth place finish last season.

Both London clubs are looking to strengthen their attacking department this summer and will try to use the promise of Champions League football to lure the player away from Newcastle.

According to French newspaper L'Equipe, Ben Arfa would prefer a move to the Emirates as he isn't convinced that he would be a regular starter at Stamford Bridge.

Ben Arfa started France's 2-0 defeat to Sweden at Euro 2012 on Tuesday night.

The 25-year-old joined Newcastle initially on loan from Marseille in 2010.
