Shirt numbers available to Philippe Coutinho at Arsenal

Amid reports linking Philippe Coutinho with a move to Arsenal, Sports Mole looks at the shirt numbers that could be available to the playmaker.

Despite talk of a restricted budget, Arsenal have already make an impact in the transfer market with the addition of former Chelsea winger Willian.

However, if speculation is to be believed, the playmaker will be followed by more fresh faces, which could potentially include his Brazilian compatriot Philippe Coutinho.

Having fallen out of favour at Barcelona, the 28-year-old is said to be keen on a return to the Premier League, where he has previously represented Liverpool.

With agent Kia Joorabchian possessing a strong working relationship with key figures behind the scenes at the Gunners, the Emirates Stadium appears to be his most likely destination.

With that in mind, Sports Mole looks at the shirt numbers that could be available to Coutinho if he moves to North London.

Since the beginning of his professional career, Coutinho has had six different numbers on the back of his jersey.

However, his three most recent numbers - seven, 10 and 14 - are already taken up by Bukayo Saka, Mesut Ozil and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang respectively.

If Arsenal were successful in parting ways with Ozil this summer, Coutinho would almost certainly be provided with the number 10 shirt.

However, there are alternatives, including the number 11 shirt of Lucas Torreira, who is expected to be sold before the beginning of the new season.

Another attractive option is the number eight which is already vacant, as is the number 18 jersey.

While all of the above options look more likely to be taken by Coutinho, the number 29 shirt which he had during his Inter Milan days is also a possibility.
