Brighton & Hove Albion boss Chris Hughton hopes to see Arsene Wenger stay on at Arsenal, despite the Frenchman suffering his worst run in two decades at the club.

Chris Hughton has backed Arsene Wenger to turn things around at Arsenal after his Brighton & Hove Albion side inflicted an eighth defeat in 13 matches on the Frenchman.

Brighton prevailed 2-1 in Sunday's match at the Amex Stadium to pile further misery on Wenger, whose position is due to come under review at the end of the season.

Despite growing calls for the long-serving manager to call it quits in the summer, Hughton believes that his opposite number can use all his experience to get Arsenal out of their current slump.

Asked if he expects Wenger to bounce back, Hughton told Sky Sports News: "Knowing him as I do, yes. I was very complimentary about him coming into this game and I will always remain very complimentary.

"Arsene is a top manager who has been through a difficult period and there is not anybody who is as experienced as him, certainly in this Premier League."

Arsenal have lost four matches on the spin ahead of Thursday's trip to Italy to take on AC Milan in the Europa League.
