Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger believes that Jack Wilshere is close to his best form following a return from injury.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has claimed that Jack Wilshere is nearly back to his best following a lengthy absence through injury.

The 20-year-old, who had spent over a year out with an ankle problem, has impressed for the Gunners since he made his comeback at the end of October.

"Jack analyses his game well and is very demanding with himself, he works hard in training," said Wenger.

"The surprising thing for me is that he is [ahead of schedule]. I expected him to be back at his best next year, in February. He looks [almost back to his best] much earlier than I expected him to be."

Arsenal are in Capital One Cup quarter-final action at Bradford City on Tuesday.
