Theo Walcott: 'Arsenal are a threat'

Theo Walcott feels that Arsenal sent out a huge statement to their domestic and European rivals by beating Bayern Munich in the Champions League.

Theo Walcott has warned Arsenal's European and domestic rivals that Tuesday's win over Bayern Munich is a taste of things to come from the hungry Gunners.

Arsene Wenger's side revived their hopes of reaching the last 16 of the Champions League by beating the Bavarians 2-0 at the Emirates to quell a run of back-to-back defeats in Group F.

The North Londoners have also won their last three Premier League games to sit second in the table, scoring 11 goals along the way, and Walcott cannot help but feel excited about the team's potential.

"You play against the best in the Champions League and Bayern are a top-class team - but we showed our class," he is quoted as saying by Sky Sports News. "The confidence is just flowing through the team at the moment, you can see that. Results show it and, if we continue this, you never know where it's going to take us. We are looking really strong.

"We have been fantastic in the Premier League. The two games in the Champions League before weren't great, but I think a lot of teams are starting to be a bit wary of our confidence. This result can't just be a one-off. We need to keep on doing it. But what we want is for teams to be wary of us. We want to put out a message and Tuesday night can hopefully show that.

"We've still got a lot to do to qualify and we won't get ahead of ourselves because our focus now is on the Premier League. That next game against Bayern is a long way ahead but if we beat Bayern, we can beat anyone."

Arsenal, who sit two points behind Manchester City, host Everton on Saturday.
