AC Milan end speculation over Massimiliano Allegri's future by announcing that the coach will stay at the San Siro next season.

AC Milan president Silvio Berlusconi has confirmed that Massimiliano Allegri will remain coach at the San Siro next season, following talks over his future earlier today.

Allegri's position as Milan coach has been under speculation for months, despite a fine second half of the campaign that saw the Rossoneri finish third in Serie A.

With Roma linked with a move for Allegri this summer, Berlusconi ended talks over the Italian's possible departure, insisting that the coach has his full support after a lengthy meeting this afternoon.

Football Italia quotes him as saying: "With Adriano Galliani and Allegri we had a frank and cordial discussion in which we revisited and analysed the past season, so there was a clarification on certain things.

"We reached an agreement on the rights and duties of the club towards the coach and the coach towards the club. We also talked about the type of football that Milan must play and the squad for next season, setting out guidelines for the transfer session.

"The rapport with the coach, which has never been interrupted, continues with faith and in absolute reciprocal respect."

A broadcast on the club's official television channel also confirmed Allegri will stay on as coach soon after Berlusconi's statement.
