Graeme Swann thinks that England should have coped better with Pakistan's bowlers during their first Twenty20 defeat in Dubai.

Graeme Swann believes that England's mistakes cost the national side an opening Twenty20 victory against Pakistan.

The visitors lost by eight runs in Dubai yesterday, despite starting off brightly when they bowled the first innings.

"[The mood's] a little bit downbeat," Swann told Sky Sports News. "We got ourselves in a position to win the game. But Twenty20 is an exciting game, most games do go down to the wire, and that's why, in my opinion, it's the best form of one-day cricket.

"They have world-class bowlers at the death, and we didn't cope with that as well as we should have done. Having said that, we got ourselves in a winning position and nine times out of ten we'd expect ourselves to cross the line.

"It was disappointing not to do that last night. But we've got two games left in the series to make amends."

England take on Pakistan for the second of three T20 fixtures tomorrow.
