Thaddeus Young has said that Michael Carter-Williams's knee was red and swollen ahead of his three-day stay in hospital at the weekend.
The Philadelphia 76ers rookie point guard was released from the University of Pennsylvania's medical facility on Sunday after being treated for a knee infection, which also kept him out of the team's defeat to the Los Angeles Clippers earlier this week.
Young told USA Today: "I seen his leg and I was like, 'Man, what is that?' It was like all swollen and red and stuff like that. I was like, 'You might need to go get that checked out'. And he was like, 'I did get it checked out'. I was like, 'You might need to get another opinion or something'.
"I didn't touch his leg. I definitely moved over to the next seat, though. I definitely wanted to know what it was."
Carter-Williams has averaged 17.5 points per game so far this season.
