New York Knicks team president Phil Jackson has reportedly decided to wait to hold talks with Derek Fisher about the head coach position.
Reports earlier this week suggested that Fisher was a leading candidate to replace Mike Woodson, who was sacked after a disappointing campaign, despite the 39-year-old having yet to retire from playing.
Fisher has previously insisted that any decision about his future will have to wait until after his season with the Thunder finishes, and Jackson is willing to bide his time as his interest grows in the player he coached at the Los Angeles Lakers, according to ESPN.
Mark Jackson, who recently parted company with the Golden State Warriors, is also believed to be a candidate should the Knicks fail to bring in Fisher.
