Steve Kerr expects to enter talks over New York Knicks job

Steve Kerr expects to talk to New York Knicks team president Phil Jackson about the possibility of becoming head coach.

Steve Kerr has claimed that he is expecting to talk to officials from the New York Knicks over the head coaching vacancy.

New York's team president Phil Jackson announced the sacking of Mike Woodson on Monday following a disappointing season, and Kerr believes that he will be considered for the role.

"I do anticipate talking with Phil Jackson at some point. When that time comes, it will come," the former Phoenix Suns general manager revealed on his SiriusXM show. "For now, there's really not a whole lot to talk about.

"It's going to be very interesting. My name is being thrown around. I do anticipate at least being a part of the conversation and we'll see where it all goes."

Kerr, who played under Jackson with the Chicago Bulls, had never been given a coaching role in the NBA.
