Carmelo Anthony has admitted that the New York Knicks have taken a step backwards as a franchise since he arrived in 2011.
The 29-year-old has been repeatedly linked with a move away from the team at the end of the current season but claims that he is a part of the rebuilding process.
"I'm not saying I want to go somewhere else," Anthony told NBA TV.
"When I first got to New York, I always told myself it would be a three to three-and-a-half-year plan just to rebuild.
"I knew we took a step backwards as an organization for me to get here. So we had to rebuild."
The Los Angeles Lakers are believed to be one of the teams interested in Anthony's services.
