Richard Sherman: "It was a heated moment"

Seattle Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman admits that he regrets his antics in his post-match interview for taking the spotlight away from his teammates following their NFC championship win.

Seattle Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman has admitted that he regrets his post-match interview where he criticised San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Michael Crabtree.

The 25-year-old believes that his outburst took the shine of a great team win by his side as they overcame a deficit at half time to beat the 49ers in the NFC championship game to reach the Super Bowl.

"It was a heated moment, it was an intense moment, just made a big play and our team just won a huge game," Sherman told NBC Sports. "I'm a little frustrated by the attention that's not being paid to my teammates. Marshawn Lynch had an incredible game. Earl Thomas had a great game.

"James Carpenter, our D-line, Bobby Wagner had 15 tackles, Doug Baldwin had over 100 yards. I just feel like it's unfortunate that all those things are being overshadowed by what's going on. That's why I apologised, because I think my teammates deserved better."

The Seahawks will face the Denver Broncos at MetLife Stadium on February 2.
