Tom Coughlin looking for New York Giants to regain some respect

Tom Coughlin says that his team need to end the campaign well in order to claw back some respect from the rest of the league after a disappointing year.

New York Giants coach Tom Coughlin has said that he hopes his team can finish the season strongly in order to claw back some respect from the rest of the NFL.

The Giants' season began by losing their opening six matches, and they now sit at 5-8 in the NFC East.

Despite their improvement, Coughlin has claimed that by beating the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday, his team might be viewed in higher regard by opposing teams.

He told the Miami Herald: "Nobody got ourselves into this situation but us. We're the only ones responsible, but we do have the wherewithal to play three solid games here at the end of the year, and perhaps gain some of the respect back that we've had in other years.

"If you really do believe that the next game is the most important game, then you have to follow through.

"We represent a great franchise, a historic franchise, a franchise that was there at the beginning of the National Football League, and we certainly not very happy with the circumstances."

The Seahawks won the last meeting between the sides back in October 2011.
