International Olympic Committee confirm Ukrainian departures from Games

The International Olympic Committee confirm that members of Ukraine's Olympic team have withdrawn from the Sochi Games.

Two members of Ukraine's Winter Olympic team have withdrawn from the Games in protest against the violence in their homeland, the International Olympic Committee has confirmed.

A Ukrainian team official said that skier Bogdana Matsotska, as well as her father and coach Oleg Matsotskyy, would be leaving Sochi.

IOC official Mark Adams confirmed the news, saying: "I believe some of [the Ukraine party] have decided to return home. Sergey Bubka (Ukraine's Olympic Committee president) has said he absolutely respects every individual's right to make their own decision."
