Team GB women's curling team lose semi-final match against Canada

Canada beat Team GB 6-4 to progress through to the gold medal final.

Great Britain's women's curling team have been defeated 6-4 by Canada, ending hopes of a gold medal final.

Britain's Eve Muirhead made the first error of the game in the first end, completely missing a Canadian yellow stone, with Canada racing into a 2-0 lead.

Canada made matters even worse for Team GB shortly after, as Muirhead boldly went for two with her final stone, but didn't connect with the yellow correctly, leaving their opponents to extend the lead further.

GB hit back in the third end, making the most of the hammer to take two shots and bring the score to 3-2, and both sides managed to take one apiece in the following ends to bring the scoreline to 4-3 with five remaining.

Canada extended their lead once more in the sixth end, before a blanked seventh ensured they regained some breathing space.

Great Britain were forced into taking just the single shot in end nine, paving the way for a Canadian victory, as Jennifer Jones handled the pressure well to win the contest 6-4 for Canada and secure a place in the final.

Team GB will now compete in the bronze medal match against the loser of the game between Sweden and Switzerland.
