Team GB bronze medallist Jenny Jones's home village of Downend could paint a postbox bronze in her honour after her success at the Winter Olympics.

The 33-year-old claimed bronze in the women's snowboard slopestyle in Sochi on Sunday, which is the only medal that Great Britain have won at the Games so far.

South Gloucestershire Council have confirmed that they will be holding an event to celebrate her achievement.

"Jenny's Olympic bronze is a fantastic achievement and we will be writing to formally congratulate her and invite her to a civic event in South Gloucestershire to mark her success," a spokesman told the Bristol Post.

"We will also be contacting the Post Office to request that a postbox in her home area of Downend be painted bronze in recognition of her achievement."

The medal was Britain's first ever on the snow at the Winter Olympics.
