Great Britain's James Machon pleased with second run

James Machon says that he was pleased with his second run in the ski half-pipe final on Tuesday.

Great Britain's freestyle skier James Machon has revealed that he is happy with his second run in the qualifying for the half-pipe competition, despite finishing 23rd overall.

Machon's run was not good enough to get him into the top 12 and therefore the final, and he said that at the time of his second run the conditions were favourable for him.

"It was quite soft snow during the first run, so when you landed your skis they sunk into the snow a bit," he told Team GB. "So you just had to be on your toes a bit more than usual and just had to go for it really.

"It stopped snowing during the second runs a bit and I got my goggles good at the top because in the first run I had water on my lens and I had to get rid of that. It ran quicker for each skier that when down.

"So by the time I got to my run it was running pretty quick and I was able to do my run pretty smooth. It has been amazing really and hopefully I can use this to do better things."

Murray Buchan, GB's other competitor, finished 17th.
