Russian clean sweep of medals in 50km mass start

There is a triple triumph for Russia, who achieve a 1-2-3 finish in the men's 50km mass start cross-country event on the final day of the Sochi Games.

The Russian Federation have achieved a clean sweep of medals in the men's 50km mass start cross-country event at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi.

Alexander Legkov won gold for the host nation with a time of 1:46:55.2, while silver and bronze went to compatriots Maxim Vylegzhanin and Illa Chermousov respectively.

Norway's Martin Johnsrud Sundby finished in fourth place, missing out on a top-three finish by 0.2 seconds.

The triple triumph secures Russia's place at the top of the medal table with 12 gold, 11 silver and nine bronze medals.
