Darya Domracheva: 'Win in individual race was not easy'

Darya Domracheva insists that winning the women's 15km individual race at the Sochi Games was "very hard".

Belarusian biathlete Darya Domracheva has said that winning the women's 15km individual race at the Winter Games in Sochi on Friday was not as easy as it looked.

The 27-year-old completed the course in 43 minutes and 19.6 seconds, despite receiving one penalty.

"The impression that it was an easy race for me is wrong," she told Sport-Express.

"It's a very hard loop here. It was a battle. I felt very tired after the hill areas. I clearly lacked strength. I had to get myself together."

Nadezhda Skardino, also of Belarus, won the bronze medal, while Switzerland's Selina Gasparin came second.
