UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva has confirmed that he wants to fight welterweight king George St-Pierre in his next bout.
Silva has been linked with a catch-weight clash with St-Pierre for a number of years, but the Brazilian now believes that the fight is closer than ever to becoming a reality.
He said: "We want to do a super-fight. I drop a little weight and he goes up a little.
"It is going to happen anyway, it is Dana White's wish. I think fighting him makes all the sense as well because he is a great name of the sport.
"As a UFC athlete I want to fight the best and St-Pierre is one of them. Then we try to put on a good show for the fans."
Fight fans must now wait to see if St-Pierre can come through a welterweight unification clash with interim champion Carlos Condit on November 17.
