Aaron Harris happy as triathlon underdog

English triathlete Aaron Harris says that he is happy to be seen as an underdog next to Alistair and Jonathan Brownlee.

Aaron Harris has said that he is happy to be seen as an underdog heading into the men's triathlon at the Commonwealth Games.

The England triathlete has had two top-10 finishes in World Series events this season, but the majority of the focus in the build-up to the event has been on brothers Alistair and Jonathan Brownlee.

"I am excited and looking forward to it. I have had a good few weeks in training, so hopefully I can go really well," the Basingstoke Gazette quotes the 26-year-old as saying.

"Whether or not I can get a medal depends on how the race works out, because on my day, I know I can get close to the other guys battling near the head of the race.

"Because the Brownlee brothers have a higher profile, people will be talking about them and putting pressure on them to win medals. I'm quite happy with that, but it's a chance for me to show that I'm more than that. I like to prove people wrong, so it's good to be going into the race as an underdog."

The men's triathlon gets underway at 3pm.
