British hope Laura Robson has been eliminated in the opening round of Wimbledon after losing 6-2 4-6 4-6 to Francesca Schiavone.
The youngster started the match well; securing two breaks of serve as she took the opening set 6-2 with ease.
However, the Italian improved as the match advanced and secured the only break of serve in the second to level it at one set all.
Robson was broken in the opening game of the third, and at 1-3, as the match began to drift away from her.
She staved off two match points on her own serve, and secured a break to move 3-5 behind in the third.
The Brit then held her serve to move 4-5 behind, but Schiavone served it out for a spot in the next round.
