Angelique Kerber has made the semi-finals of Wimbledon after recording a 7-5 7-6 win over Simona Halep on Tuesday afternoon.

The world number four, who won the Australian Open earlier this year, came through a first set which incredibly saw nine breaks of serve. The vital break came at 5-6, however, as Kerber moved into a 7-5 lead in the match.

Both players held their opening two service games of the second and what proved final set, before another four breaks occurred to leave the score level at 5-5.

Halep managed to survive in the second set to force a tie-break, but it was Kerber that came through 7-2 to advance to the semi-finals of the Grand Slam in the English capital.
