Marin Cilic has claimed a place in the third round at Wimbledon following a 7-6[4] 6-2 6-1 win over Lukasz Kubot.
Both competitors were fairly matched in the first set with both eager to find the first breakthrough but equally struggled to snatch a break to take the advantage.
The first set was forced into a tie-break, which could have gone either way but Cilic managed to execute some impressive forehands to take the set.
The one-set lead proved to be a boost for the 23-year-old, who controlled the grass court, whilc his Polish opponent failed to come up with answers to Cilic's game.
It wasn't long until Cilic took the two-set lead but Kubot failed to give up in the third, and pushed his opponent but continued to struggle to break down his competitor's serve.
Despite his attempts, Kubot lost an early break, which allowed Cilic to resume control and grab a place in the third round.
