Britain's Laura Robson progresses in US Open doubles after singles exit

Laura Robson overcomes her US Open early singles exit by reaching the second round of the doubles tournament at Flushing Meadows.

Laura Robson has responded to her early US Open singles exit by reaching the second round of the doubles tournament at Flushing Meadows in New York.

The Brit, who was knocked out of the singles on Tuesday, teamed up with Kirsten Flipkens to seal a 6-2 6-4 victory over Madison Keys and Lisa Raymond.

Robson and Flipkens were able to save an early break point, which then inspired them to hunt down their opponents and take the first break of the match.

Keys and Raymond, who are both former doubles partners of Robson, were unable to recover as they dropped serve once again and were forced to accept a one-set deficit.

It was the perfect start to the second set as Robson and Flipkens snatched an early double break, but their opponents refused to disappear as they eventually got a break back.

Keys and Raymond kept themselves in contention by saving a crucial break point, but Robson and Flipkens fought back to take the match with a break.
