Andy Murray has claimed a place in the quarter-finals of the US Open after defeating American Donald Young at Flushing Meadows.
The British number one took to the Grandstand after two consecutive days of cancelled play due to rain and finished off his American opponent in straight sets 6-2 6-3 6-3.
The Scot began the first set on the front foot after being 2-1 down by the end of play on Wednesday, but managed to break Young’s first serve of the day.
The American attempted to come back into the match in the second set, but a string of errors from the 22-year-old eased the pressure on Murray, who saw through the remaining two sets comfortably.
The world number four will face American John Isner in the quarter-finals.
