Number nine seed Tomas Berdych has progressed through to the second round of the US Open with a straight sets victory over Frenchman Romain Jouan.
The Czech number one served seven aces on his way to a 6-2 7-6 [7/4] 6-1 win over his opponent.
The 2010 Wimbledon finalist will now face either Fabio Fognini or Horacio Zeballos in the next round.
