World number 25 Mardy Fish battles back from two sets down to advance through to round three at the US Open against Nikolay Davydenko.

Mardy Fish overturned a two-set deficit to advance through to round three of the US Open at the expense of Nikolay Davydenko this evening.

Veteran Davydenko looked to be heading for a comfortable victory at Flushing Meadows when he won the opening two sets 6-4 7-6.

However, he appeared to tire, which resulted him winning just three games from the next 12 as Fish levelled up proceedings in front of his home crowd with a quickfire 6-1 6-2.

Fish continued his domination at the start of the deciding set, breaking Davydenko at the first time of asking as he went about opening up a 2-0 advantage.

He then proceeded to claim a double break, before going on to serve out for a 6-2 success.

The 30-year-old will now face either Jimmy Wang or Gilles Simon for a place in round four.
