Victoria Azarenka has insisted that she has nothing to prove at the US Open, despite never having progressed further than the fourth round of the competition.

The number one seed progressed to the third round with a 6-2 6-2 demolition of Kirsten Flipkens, and faces either Magdalena Rybarikova or Jie Zheng next.

"I don't feel like I have to prove something. Of course I would rather always win than lose," she said.

"Taking last year's experience or the year before that, I can't really look back on it and take something. I mean, I can take something from it, but not really look back.

"The next match is going to be the usual match for me. I have a tough opponent. You know, I'm up for the challenge."

The Belarusian is looking to secure her second Grand Slam title of the season having won January's Australian Open.
