Victoria Azarenka: 'I had to stay aggressive'

Victoria Azarenka admits that she had to remain aggressive in order to close out her straight-sets win over Varvara Lepchenko in the US Open fourth round.

Victoria Azarenka has admitted that she failed to keep to her gameplan towards the end of her US Open fourth-round clash with Varvara Lepchenko.

The 20th seed came through by a 6-3 6-4 scoreline at Flushing Meadows, but not before she had failed to serve out the match at the first time of asking.

After securing her win, the 26-year-old said: "I felt at 5-3 that I never went for my shots, she didn't give me much rhythm. I told myself to be aggressive and go for it."

The former world number one will play either Sabine Lisicki or Simona Halep in the last eight.
