Jo-Wilfried Tsonga is out of the Barcelona Open thanks to a straight-sets thrashing by Marcel Granollers.

Jo-Wilfried Tsonga has suffered a second-round exit at the Barcelona Open with a straight-sets thrashing by Marcel Granollers.

The sixth seed was broken twice early on before clawing one of the breaks back, but a failure to convert two further break points saw him go on to lose it 6-4.

Spaniard Granollers was even more ruthless in the second set as he dispatched of Tsonga 6-4 6-2 inside an hour.

The world number 60 will now face fellow countryman and former champion Tommy Robredo for a place in the quarter-finals.
