David Goffin advanced to round three of the Miami Masters courtesy of a 7-6 4-6 6-2 victory over Germany's Philipp Kohlschreiber this afternoon.
The opening set was evenly contested and, as a result, a tie-breaker was required to determine a winner. Goffin, currently ranks 47 in the world, took control of the breaker early and eventually won 7-5.
Kohlschreiber then responded positively in the second set and managed to force a decider thanks to a 6-4 triumph.
The 29-year-old made a string of unforced errors in the third set, though, and was duly punished by Goffin, who dropped just two games on his way to booking his place in the next round.
He will now take on either Nicolas Almagro or Guido Pella for a place in the last 16 of the competition.
