Roger Federer has reached the final of the Brisbane International after coming from behind to beat Jeremy Chardy 6-3 6-7 6-3.
The top seed, who needed an hour and 55 minutes to see off Chardy, will now meet Lleyton Hewitt in Sunday's main event.
Speaking about Hewitt, Federer said: "We go back 17 years, our coaches back in the day were best friends. It's amazing we have a chance to play in Australia, our first time in a final here I think.
"I struggled a lot against him in the early stages of my career."
Hewitt overcame second seed Kei Nishikori 5-7 6-4 6-3 in his semi-final.
