Jo-Wilfried Tsonga withdraws from Queen's

Jo-Wilfried Tsonga is forced to withdraw from the Aegon Championships at Queen's Club due to a thigh injury.

World number 12 Jo-Wilfried Tsonga has withdrawn from next week's Aegon Championships at Queen's Club due to injury.

Tsonga was also forced to pull out of the recent French Open in the third round having picked up a thigh problem, retiring when leading Ernests Gulbis 5-2 at Roland Garros.

The 31-year-old dropped out of the world top 10 as a result, and has not recovered in time to feature at Queen's.

"I am very disappointed that this injury means that I will not be able to play in the Aegon Championships at the Queen's Club," he said in a statement.

"It is one of my favourite tournaments, home of some very happy moments for me on the court - reaching the top 100 for the first time and playing in the final - and I was looking forward to coming back. I hope to return in the future."

Tsonga is the second big name to pull out of the tournament after Rafael Nadal withdrew last week due to a wrist injury.
