Pete Sampras: 'Roger Federer can win more Grand Slams'

Pete Sampras believes that Roger Federer can record an 18th Grand Slam success before retiring.

Pete Sampras has claimed that Roger Federer is still playing well enough to record an 18th victory in a Grand Slam tournament.

Federer hasn't tasted success in one of the four major tournaments since Wimbledon in 2012, but Sampras believes that the 32-year-old proved he still has the quality to succeed after reaching the semi-finals of the Australian Open.

"Things need to fall into place and he needs to play well but I do think he can do it. I think it is what he's playing for," Sampras, who won 14 Grand Slam titles during his career, told journalists.

"He's done everything in the game and he could walk away feeling great but he still wants to travel and compete and I'm in awe of it."

Federer is currently eighth in the ATP World Rankings.
