Switzerland's Stanislas Wawrinka has booked his place in the last eight of the Monte Carlo Masters after he saw off Nicolas Almagro in straight sets.
In a tight opening set, the world number 26 managed to snatch a service break early on before taking it 6-3.
Despite a solid showing from Spain's Almagro in the first, he soon waned in the second as Wawrinka's combative style earned him two breaks of serve to march into a 4-1 lead.
Almagro managed to find his first service break to edge his way back into contention, but another break from Wawrinka was enough to see him close out the match 6-3.
