Andy Murray has admitted that he "played a really good match" to beat Jeremy Chardy in the second round of the Italian Open.
The world number three extended his winning record on clay this season to 10-0 thanks to a 6-4 6-3 victory on Wednesday.
Murray confirmed yesterday that he would be participating at the tournament following a busy fortnight that saw him triumph at both the Munich Open and the Madrid Open.
"My legs were a bit tired at the beginning, but then I started to feel better after the first few games," the Brit is quoted as saying by the ATP's official website.
"For me, I felt like I played a really good match. It was tough for me, but I hung in; I felt like I moved pretty well and I served well throughout the match. I was happy with the way I adjusted to the conditions. I felt like I moved well and made it difficult for him to win free points."
Murray's best showing in Rome came four years ago when he reached the semi-finals.
