Mirjana Lucic-Baroni amazed by Simona Halep shock

Mirjana Lucic-Baroni expresses her surprise at beating third seed Simona Halep in the second round of the French Open.

Mirjana Lucic-Baroni has described her shock win over Simona Halep at the French Open as "incredible".

The Croatian world number 70 defeated the third seed 7-5 6-1 on Wednesday to seal a place in the third round at Roland Garros.

"It's incredible," Lucic-Baroni told reporters. "Simona is such a great champion, and I respect her so much, and to play this well on such a big stadium makes me so happy.

"She's such a great champion so I knew if I wanted to win I had to go for my shots, and that's my game anyway, so I just tried to keep going for it and tried to keep my unforced errors down, as well. I'm so proud of myself - it's such a huge win for me, it's just amazing!"

Waiting for Lucic-Baroni in the third round will be home favourite Alize Cornet.
