Jim Courier: 'I won't quit as USA Davis Cup captain'

USA Davis Cup captain Jim Courier insists that he will not step down from the role after seeing his team lose to Great Britain.

Jim Courier has insisted that he will not quit his role as USA Davis Cup captain following their defeat to Great Britain.

The Americans were beaten in the first round of the competition for the second consecutive year over the weekend as they were defeated in Glasgow.

Courier has led his country since 2010, but the 44-year-old does not plan on stepping down any time soon.

"Have you ever seen a captain quit in the middle of the year? Unless you know something I don't know and I'm being fired, I'm planning to be there," he is quoted as saying by Sky Sports News. "I love being captain of the team. I plan to be here for at least the next year. That's what my contract says."

Courier won the Davis Cup twice as a player during his distinguished career.
