Australia drop Nick Kyrgios for Great Britain Davis Cup semi-final

Bernard Tomic takes Nick Kyrgios's place in Australia's Davis Cup team for the semi-final against Great Britain as the latter focuses on his personal development.

Nick Kyrgios has been replaced by Bernard Tomic in Australia's Davis Cup team to face Great Britain in next week's semi-final in Glasgow.

Captain Wally Masur has swapped one controversial player for another as Tomic joins Lleyton Hewitt, Sam Groth and Thanasi Kokkinakis in the visitors' lineup.

Kyrgios misses out so that he can focus on his personal and professional development after a year writing headlines for the wrong reasons.

"After some good healthy discussion with Nick and his team, we have agreed on a plan to help him develop all aspects of his game and ensure a long and successful future in the sport," Masur said. "Next week's tie has come a bit too soon for him and is not in that plan."

The three-day event takes place at the Emirates Arena between September 18 and 20, with the winner facing either Argentina or Belgium in November's final.
