Czech pair upset top seeds to reach women's doubles gold-medal final

Andrea Hlavackova and Lucie Hradecka of the Czech Republic knock out the American number one seeds Liezel Huber and Lisa Raymond to reach the women's doubles gold-medal final.

The Czech Republic pair of Andrea Hlavackova and Lucie Hradecka have caused an upset in the women's doubles Olympic semi-final by beating the American number one seeds Liezel Huber and Lisa Raymond.

The Czech pair, seeded fourth in the event, missed out on a break point in the American's first service game before taking their eighth opportunity at a break two games later after eight deuces.

Hlavackova and Hradecka broke again in the sixth game before serving out the opener 6-1 in 35 minutes on No. 1 Court at Wimbledon.

The Czechs then saved a break point in their opening service game of the second before taking the lead by breaking to lead 3-2.

They had the chance to serve it out at 5-4 but were soon down 0-40 and, despite bringing it back to deuce, were broken as the second set was levelled.

Soon the four women were in a tie-break and after an even start it was the Czechs who ran away with it, reeling off five points in a row from 2-2 to book their place in the final.

Hlavackova and Hradecka will face either the American Williams sisters or third seeds Maria Kirilenko and Nadia Petrova of Russia for the gold medal.
