Roger Federer has beaten Juan Martin Del Potro to progress to the third round of the Cincinnati Masters.
The Swiss, who had lost to Del Potro in the pair’s last two meetings, broke his opponent in the fourth game and maintained his advantage to win the first set 6-3.
The second set remained even until the 30-year-old took the lead after ten unbroken games and capitalised to win the match 6-3 7-5.
Federer will face American James Blake in the next round as he attempts to win the competition a fifth time.
