Bernard Tomic hails "emotional win" at Australian Open

Bernard Tomic declares himself pleased with this morning's 7-5 6-7 6-3 6-2 victory over Tobias Kamke at the Australian Open.

Bernard Tomic has admitted to feeling emotional after putting his 2014 Australian Open heartbreak behind him.

The Aussie pro powered into the second round of the tournament with a 7-5 6-7 6-3 6-2 win over Tobias Kamke at the Hisense Arena in his first match back since quitting against Rafael Nadal last year.

Tomic was booed as he left the arena 12 months ago having retired one set into his much-anticipated clash against the Spaniard, although he was in a far better place this morning as he made his return to the court.

"It was a very emotional win for me after last year," he told reporters. "For me to win today, it's huge. Everything is a plus."

Twenty-second seed Philipp Kohlschreiber awaits Tomic in the next round.
