Rafael Nadal says that it was an "honour" to play against Roger Federer in the Australian Open semi-final.

Rafael Nadal has admitted that he couldn't "imagine" reaching the Australian Open final.

The 25-year-old has booked a spot in the final of the tournament after a tough 7-6 6-2 7-6 6-4 victory over world number three Roger Federer.

"It's always a pleasure being on this court," said Nadal. "It's an honour to play Roger. It was a fantastic match. It's just amazing to have one player in front of you who has no mistakes and a totally complete game.

"All of my career all I wanted to do was keep learning because there was one player in front of me. If you told me that two Sundays ago [I would be here] I couldn't imagine it. For me it's a dream to be back in the final."

The Spaniard stated that he has no tips for British hopeful Andy Murray, who takes on Novak Djokovic in the second semi-final tomorrow.

"I think both players are playing fantastic," Nadal added. "I think my advice to Andy is to be aggressive, but my advice isn't very good because I lost the last six times against [Djokovic]."

Nadal previously claimed the Australian Open title in 2009.
