Aaron Cook breezes through opening contest

Moldova representative Aaron Cook eases through his opening contest in the men's -80kg category at the European Games.

Aaron Cook has booked his place in the men's -80kg quarter-finals with a emphatic win over Arbes Jahiri.

The 24-year-old, who switched his allegiances from Great Britain to Moldova earlier this year, dropped the opening point but from then onwards it was plain sailing for the Dorchester-born competitor.

After reaching the end of the round one with a 3-1 lead, he registered seven points during the following two minutes to effectively seal victory.

That was confirmed in the final session as he added a further four points to secure a 14-1 triumph.
