World number one Aaron Cook shocked by Portugal's Julio Ferreira

World number one taekwondo player Aaron Cook loses to Portugal's Julio Ferreira at the European Games in Baku.

World number one taekwondo player Aaron Cook has lost to Portugal's Julio Ferreira in the golden-point round at the European Games.

Ferreira dominated the first round, and a three-point head kick saw the Portuguese leading 5-0.

Moldova's Cook came back in the second round though, pulling the score back to 5-4.

He then levelled at 6-6 midway through round three, but Ferreira scored a point in the final 20 seconds to seemingly claim victory. Cook had other ideas though, and a kyong-go penalty in the final second levelled the scores.

In the golden-point round, Ferreira connected with a kick after 30 seconds to progress.

Ferreira could fight Great Britain's Lutalo Muhammad in the semi-final.
