Michael Phelps has secured a place in the final of the men's 100m butterfly final at London 2012.

The 27-year-old showed exactly why he is the most decorated Olympian of all-time, winning his semi-final just moments after taking gold in the men's 200m individual medley.

Phelps's time of 50.86s was enough to send him through as the fastest qualifier, marginally ahead of South Africa's Chad le Clos, who won the second heat.

Tyler Mcgill, Phelps's United States teammate, also made the final after coming in second behind Le Clos.

The men's 100m butterfly final takes place at the Aquatics Centre tomorrow evening.
