Great Britain top medal table at European Swimming Championships in Berlin

Great Britain end the European Swimming Championships in Berlin top of the medal table after winning three golds on the final day.

Great Britain have finished top of the medal table at the European Swimming Championships thanks to three gold medals on the final day of competition in Berlin.

Team GB finished with 27 medals, 11 of which were gold, to finish ahead of Russia, who claimed nine golds.

The last finals session couldn't have begun better for GB as Fran Halsall claimed victory by five-hundredths of a second in the women's 50m freestyle.

Ben Proud just missed out on a medal in the men's 50m freestyle, but Roberto Pavoni won GB's second of the day soon after with silver in the men's 400m medley.

Jazz Carlin then claimed victory in the women's 400m freestyle before the competition ended with the 4x100m medley relay for both the men and women.

Britain's women won bronze in the first race, but were bettered by the men, who claimed gold by less than a second ahead of France.
