GB's Adam Peaty claims second world gold in Kazan by winning 50m breaststroke

Great Britain's Adam Peaty takes his second gold of the World Championships by winning the 50m breaststroke final in Kazan.

Great Britain's Adam Peaty has won his second gold medal of the World Championships in Kazan by storming to victory in the 50m breaststroke final.

The 20-year-old, who clinched gold in the 100m breaststroke earlier this week, set a new world record of 26.42s in the 50m semi-finals yesterday.

Tonight, the Brit, who was in the middle of the pool alongside rival Cameron van der Burgh, was forced to play catch-up in the first 25m, but he was able to surge ahead when it mattered to touch the wall in 26.51s.

Peaty has now become only the second Brit behind David Wilkie to win double gold at a World Championships.

Van der Burgh took silver for South Africa, while the USA's Kevin Cordes secured bronze.
